Schloss Neuschwanstein, Day 2

We got up on Thursday to a typical German/Turkish breakfast that consisted of various rolls, cheeses and meats. There were also fresh tomatoes and basil with mozzarella. It was an awesome breakfast.

After breakfast, we got in the car and drove south from Memmingen to the city where the Neuschwanstein Castle (Schloß Neuschwanstein) is perched remotely on a high hill. After walking up, we took the tour of the castle (which wasn’t worth the 8 euros!!) and saw a bridge off in the distance where people were taking pictures. We figured it might be a nice view, so we headed over. It was the most amazing view of the castle I think we could have found. We were on the edge of a steep drop-off which made the picture taking awesome.

On the way back to Markus’ house, we stopped off at the lake where he usually wakeboards, but without a boat! There are these two man-made lakes where there is a machine that works kind of like a fast chairlift that goes around in a big circle around the lake. Instead of having chairs attached to the cable, it has long ropes that you hold on to, and are pulled around the lake by. It was absolutely awesome, and had it been the season, I think I would have had to try it!

We stopped at a nice Italian restaurant on the way back and each enjoyed a huge pizza, which were all delicious, and then finally made it back home where we just relaxed and got ready for bed… We had a big day to look forward to!
